Suzuki Ertiga - practical 7-seat imported car for Vietnamese families

New slightly upgraded imported MPV model. Stylish design, spacious interior and competitive with Chevrolet Orlando in Vietnam.

In the family multi-purpose vehicle segment, the name Ertiga is no longer unfamiliar to Vietnamese customers. Instead of assembling, Suzuki chose to import from Indonesia, where the auto industry is more developed. Ertiga has a 5+2 interior design, competing with its rival Chevrolet Orlando.

In the 2017 version, Suzuki renewed Ertiga, the chrome-plated grille, the fog lamp rims are also chrome-plated to make the front of the car more modern. At the rear, the taillights are redesigned to suit the trend. The rearview mirrors are electrically folding and the Japanese car company added a reverse sensor to Ertiga.

Ertiga 2017 is 4,265 mm long, 1,695 mm wide, 1,685 mm high. The wheelbase is 2,740 mm and the ground clearance is 185 mm. Compared to its rival Orlando, Ertiga is 387 mm shorter, 168 mm narrower, and 52 mm taller. The wheelbase is 20 mm shorter, while the ground clearance is 25 mm higher.

The Ertiga's interior feels quite spacious, especially the headroom. The seats are covered in fabric, the main material is plastic mixed with some faux leather details. The 3-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel integrates some common function adjustment keys. The driver's seat is mechanically adjustable, while the rival Orlando has 6-way electric adjustment.

Suzuki designed the Ertiga's dashboard in a layered style, stylized with a 2-tone light-dark color scheme. The air conditioning system has 2 independent, mechanically controlled cooling units. The entertainment system has a 4-speaker sound system with CD connection and USB connection support. The 3rd row of seats can be folded 50/50 for a large storage space with a capacity of 736 liters, suitable for traveling or picnicking with family or friends.

The 1.4I4 engine sound is round and quite smooth when idling. The designed capacity is 91 horsepower at 6,000 rpm, maximum torque of 130 Nm at 4,000 rpm.

The interior uses light colors.

The small engine on a 7-seater car does not allow the driver to quickly perform the driver's request. The accelerator pedal lag is quite obvious. Only when going over 20 km/h does it feel like there is enough momentum to accelerate. The electric power steering wheel helps to steer lightly, while the turning radius of only 5.2 meters makes it easy to turn around in crowded streets. The driving position is comfortable, with a straight back and legs like a passenger car. The view is quite wide.

Turn onto the Lang - Hoa Lac highway, press the gas button, Ertiga accelerates slowly, the 4-speed automatic transmission shifts gears quite smoothly. Soundproofing is good at speeds below 60 km/h. When going above 80 and then 90 km/h, engine noise and chassis noise become more obvious. This is also a characteristic of popular cars, from Suzuki to Toyota Innova or Chevrolet Orlando.

Safety equipment on Ertiga includes ABS anti-lock brakes, EBD brake force distribution. Parking sensors, dual airbags. Fuel consumption according to Suzuki is 6.1 liters per 100 km of mixed road.

Compared to Chevrolet Orlando, Suzuki Ertiga is more affordable but has a smaller engine. Suzuki's 7-seater model has a price of 639 million VND, equal to its competitor.

Potential customers of Ertiga may be first-time car buyers who need a 7-seater. Stable driving feeling, not too special but small, easy to maneuver in crowded streets and alleys and most of all, reliability from a Japanese brand.
