Electronic warfare between Turkey and Syria: Koral outperforms Krasukha-4?
The Syrian army recently announced that it has prepared combat plans to deal with the event of Turkish planes violating its airspace.
As a response, right after the Syrian Army's announcement, Türkiye's state-of-the-art Koral electronic warfare system was seen in the border area, and it was assessed to be capable of neutralizing many of Syria's state-of-the-art electronic weapons.
The Koral complex, developed and manufactured by ASELSAN Corporation, is said to possess similar features to Russia's Krasukha ground-based electronic warfare system.
Koral's superior features make it powerful enough to suppress radar clusters, air defense missile control stations... to ensure the safety of our military aircraft taking off on missions.
The Koral was only accepted into service with the Turkish Army in early 2016, so it was especially necessary to take it out into the field to test its theoretical features.

The structure of the Koral electronic warfare system includes a cluster of two electronic support radars (Radar Electronic Support) and electronic attack radars (Radar Electronic Attack) mounted on a special MAN 8x8 truck chassis made in Germany to increase mobility.
The electronic support radar system is equipped with a cluster of two large antenna towers that can be retracted when moving, with the main design being radio reconnaissance, intelligence data collection, identification and early warning of threats on the battlefield.
This radar system cluster has a modular design that operates on multiple frequencies and has an operating range of up to 150 km.
Koral's second radar system is primarily tasked with jamming and electronic suppression of enemy military equipment. It can also automatically detect threats from a distance and neutralize them.
This Koral radar cluster also has a modular design equipped with digital transceivers that can operate on many different frequencies with a range of more than 100 km.

The entire Koral electronic warfare system is operated by a central control system and a surveillance system all mounted on the chassis of the electronic support radar vehicle.
Koral's emission power is said to be greater than Russia's Krasukha-4 due to the clear separation of the receiver and transmitter functions, which do not overlap or interfere with each other.
The Koral system, with its powerful suppression capabilities, will certainly have some impact on the electronic equipment in the air defense systems supplied by Russia to Syria.
In addition, Türkiye will take advantage of combat opportunities to continue perfecting this complex, especially when they receive the S-400 to get more parameters.
