Benefits of magnolia flowers
The Chinese evergreen contains a type of plant-based antibiotic that inhibits the proliferation and growth of certain bacteria, and is used to relieve phlegm, suppress coughs, lower blood pressure, and treat dysentery, among other things.
In folk medicine, all parts of the frangipani tree can be used as medicine, such as the bark, root bark, flowers, flower buds, fresh leaves, and sap, but the flowers are most commonly used. The entire tree contains a plant-based antibiotic called fulvo plumierin, which inhibits the growth and development of certain Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria.
Different parts of the tree have different uses. For example, the bark contains the glucoside agoniadin and a bitter substance called plumierit. The bark and roots are slightly toxic, bitter, and cooling. The leaves of the frangipani tree are used to treat sprains, dislocations, and boils. The latex, mainly composed of plumeric acid, can be used as a laxative, to treat constipation and edema. Frangipani flowers are used to expel phlegm, relieve coughs, lower blood pressure, and treat coughs and dysentery. Dried frangipani flowers are more potent than fresh ones.
Magnolia
To treat high blood pressure: Take 12-20g of dried magnolia flowers, boil them to make a decoction, and drink it throughout the day instead of tea. Drink daily.
Sprains: Wash a fresh leaf, crush it, mix with a little salt, and apply to the swollen area. Then, take another fresh leaf, heat it over a fire until wilted, and apply it to the affected area, securing it with a bandage or clean cloth. Apply 1-3 times a day for 1-2 consecutive days.
Pain or boils: Crush fresh leaves and apply as a poultice.
To treat swollen and painful gums: Soak the root bark in alcohol and use it as a mouthwash; it is very effective (be careful not to swallow it as it is poisonous).
Treating coughs: Use 4-12g of dried magnolia flowers, decoct them in water, and drink the resulting liquid as a substitute for tea throughout the day (using flowers with white petals and a yellow center will be more effective).
Note: People who are weak, elderly, pregnant women, or have diarrhea should not use this product because the components in the plant have a strong laxative effect and are slightly toxic. Consult a doctor before use.
