Nghe An Taekwondo won gold medal at the national strong clubs tournament

(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of September 28, one day after the opening ceremony of the 2017 National Taekwondo Championship for Strong Clubs in Binh Thuan province, Nghe An athletes excellently won 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal.

This tournament is organized by the Vietnam Taekwondo Federation in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan province.

This year's tournament attracted nearly 500 athletes from 45 units, provinces, cities and sectors nationwide. Among them were clubs with strengths in Taekwondo such as: People's Public Security, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Thuan, Binh Duong...

Athletes will compete in a knockout format, competing in 2 age groups: 15 - 17 years old and over 17 years old. Competition content includes: Competition (individual competition and team competition); boxing competition (standard boxing and creative boxing).

Participating in this year's tournament, Nghe An sports delegation has 16 athletes, including 14 female athletes and 2 male athletes. At the end of the second day of competition, Nghe An athletes delegation excellently won 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal in the individual competition for the age group of 15-17.

Mr. Ngo Minh Chinh - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan province awarded the gold medal to athlete Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai.

The medal-winning athletes include: Nguyen Thi Thu Hoai, gold medal in the women's individual competition in the 44 kg weight class and Nguyen Thi Yen, silver medal in the 68 kg weight class.

The 2017 National Taekwondo Club Championship aims to create conditions for athletes to compete, exchange experiences, and improve their professional skills. The tournament is an opportunity for localities to evaluate the training and coaching of Taekwondo and the development of the Vietnamese Taekwondo movement.

The Closing Ceremony and the award ceremony for the entire delegation will take place on October 2. From now until the end, Nghe An Taekwondo athletes will continue to compete in 6 events.
