Horrific accident: Two cars collided head-on, 11 people died
In the early morning of May 7, a passenger bus traveling on Ho Chi Minh Road through Chu Se town (Gia Lai) collided head-on with a fertilizer truck, killing 11 people.
At around 5am, a sleeper bus was traveling on the Ho Chi Minh Highway from Dak Lak to Kon Tum. When it reached Chu Se town (Gia Lai), it was said that a fertilizer truck traveling in the opposite direction had crossed the lane and hit the bus head-on.

The accident crushed the front of both vehicles. The passenger car turned around and the truck flipped over. 10 people died on the spot and dozens were injured.
"Hearing a sound like an explosion, we ran out and saw many passengers thrown onto the road. Some people were injured and stuck in the car, calling for help," said people at the scene.
"The victims of the passenger bus were stuck inside, and the authorities and local people had to break the door to get them out for emergency treatment. We are still processing the scene of the accident. The cause is under investigation," said Colonel Pham Van Uan, Head of the Gia Lai Traffic Police Department, adding that the passenger bus had 36 people, and the truck had a driver and a conductor.

According to Colonel Uan, at 8am, another victim died at the hospital.
The initial cause is said to be that the truck was speeding, honking loudly, overtaking a passenger bus going in the same direction and then crashing head-on into the passenger car.
Chu Se town is located on the Ho Chi Minh road (old National Highway 14), about 40 km south of Pleiku city. This is a vital route connecting Binh Phuoc to the Central Highlands provinces. The accident site is about 2 km north of Chu Se market.
