Why do FIFA referees in Vietnam 'blow the whistle' so spectacularly?
(Baonghean.vn) - This is not the first time FIFA referee Truong Hong Vu has been disciplined, he was previously suspended internally due to mistakes. In the 22nd round at Thien Truong Stadium, this referee was also recently protested by home fans in the match against Ho Chi Minh City.
In fact, in the match Viettel - B.Binh Duong, FIFA referee Truong Hong Vu had more than one controversial situation. He blew a penalty when the home team Viettel was losing 0-1 because he thought that a B.Binh Duong player used his hand to play the ball. Looking closely at the video, everyone saw number 7 Nguyen Thanh Long clasping his hands behind his buttocks.
Don't believe in tears

In a phone report to the Head of the VFF Referee Board, Duong Van Hien, he shared with the press. "He admitted his mistake and almost cried during the conversation. Truong Hong Vu said that in that situation, he penalized a Binh Duong player for a foul, but for some reason he raised his hand the other way, so the away team was awarded a free kick." But surely no one believes in tears!
Many football fans believe that if that is true, then there is a lack of coordination between the body parts of FIFA referee Truong Hong Vu. If he penalizes a B.Binh Duong player, his hand cannot point towards the away team's goal but must point in the opposite direction.
Not only that, in that situation, the ball was put into play, assistant 1 Pham Hoai Tam carried the flag and ran along the sideline, it took 3 touches for the ball to land in Viettel's net. Both referee Truong Hong Vu and assistant 1 Pham Hoai Tam signaled to recognize the equalizer 2-2, then suddenly "blow the whistle".
Anyone with a little knowledge of the football field can know that according to FIFA rules, when the ball is in play, the referee cannot change the whistle. If we continue to be creative like the FIFA referees “Made in Vietnam” until before blowing the whistle to end the match, the kings of the football field can still “blow the whistle” and not recognize the goal from the beginning of the match.
In fact, it took several minutes for commentator Quang Tung and VTV viewers to finally know the score of the match, why the players in red and blue shirts were all surrounding and arguing fiercely with the referee.
Is it possible that “I am pointing… in the wrong direction”?

According to FIFA, the only referees allowed to "blow the whistle" are when the players take a free kick illegally, that is, when the ball is put into play incorrectly (for example, the ball has not stopped, or is placed in the wrong position for the free kick). But here, when the Binh Duong players took the free kick, referee Truong Hong Vu did not blow the whistle, so the match continued normally, so there was no reason to "blow the whistle".
Strangely enough, in front of the television camera, referee Truong Hong Vu only talked with the 4th referee Vu Phuc Hoan, before this FIFA-level referee "blew the whistle". People did not see the figure of the "insider", assistant referee 1 Pham Hoai Tam, during such a "boiling water, burning fire" moment.
The “whistle-breaking” only came after the home team Viettel players reacted strongly, not as an excuse: “I pointed in the wrong direction. I apologize and will take responsibility for this decision” when explaining to the B.Binh Duong players.
The mistake was obvious. Referee Truong Hong Vu's "strange" decision to blow the whistle caused Binh Duong to lose 1-2, losing the chance to compete for the top 3, while the 3 valuable points helped Viettel reach the relegation spot.
In fact, at the time referee Truong Hong Vu blew the whistle, Viettel only had 28 points, equal to Nam Dinh and 3 points ahead of Thanh Hoa, the 13th-placed team. Until now, there is no basis to say that referee Truong Hong Vu “bullied” Thanh Hoa or “bullied” Nam Dinh, only that Viettel had escaped to 10th place in a rather spectacular way.
Leaving behind the scandals for the FIFA class “Made in Vietnam” that have been gossiped about for several years. But it seems that this time, it is much worse than the time when FIFA referee Phung Dinh Dung denied a valid goal from Khanh Hoa because Uche headed into the net of Quang Nam in an unfair play situation.
A decision that robbed B.Binh Duong of a medal, “saved” Viettel and made Nam Dinh and Thanh Hoa, who were already in trouble, even more difficult. Fans still do not understand why there are referees of FIFA level who “blow the whistle” so spectacularly?
