Illegal timber transporter 'racing' with traffic police
Panicked when the truck carrying illegal timber was asked to stop, the 20-year-old driver sped away more than 40 km while being chased by the police.

On the afternoon of April 24, while patrolling the National Highway 1A bypass through Thach Dai commune (Thach Ha, Ha Tinh), a working group from the provincial Traffic Police Department discovered a 4-seat car with a Da Nang license plate running from South to North with suspicious signs, so they asked to stop for inspection.
The driver did not comply, drove straight ahead and then accelerated to escape. The task force used a specialized vehicle to follow and chase him for about 40 km to Hong Linh town, the police approached and overtook him and asked the people in the car to stop.
Checking the vehicle, the task force discovered more than 1,000 kg of rosewood without documents and many fake license plates.

Driver Le Anh Tai (20 years old, residing in Nghe An) and his companion confessed to transporting wood for hire for a person in Quang Tri to Bac Ninh for 5 million VND. To avoid detection, he covered the wood with tarpaulin, tinted the car windows, and used many fake license plates.
