Driver gets greedy while sitting watching a bag of one billion dong

According to the first instance verdict on November 16 of the Hanoi People's Court, Nguyen Van Nhan was assigned by the company to drive two colleagues to a transaction with a partner in Dong Da district.

When they went to work, Nhan was told to carefully watch the bag containing 990 million VND and the Vertu phone left in the car.

Filled with greed, on April 14, Nhan did not wait for his colleagues and drove away. Arriving in Dong Da district, he left his car and phone behind and fled to the South with the money. A few days later, Nhan was arrested.

In court, Nhan stated that apart from buying a few personal items, he only spent 20 million VND.

Thanks to the victim's request for a reduced sentence, Nhan was sentenced to seven years in prison.
