(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of December 28, the leaders of the Economic Police Department (PC46) of the Nghe An Provincial Police announced that on the morning of December 29, they will issue a decision to initiate criminal proceedings and indict Nguyen Van Lap (34 years old), residing in Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province, for violating regulations on the protection of endangered and rare forest animals.

Upon inspecting the truck, police discovered a frozen tiger carcass weighing 120kg and measuring 1.5m in length. The driver was identified as Nguyen Van Lap (34 years old, residing in Quynh Hong commune, Quynh Luu district, Nghe An province). Lap confessed to being hired to transport the tiger carcass for a man named Hau, residing in Quynh Giang commune, Quynh Luu district, for 8 million VND, en route to the North for sale.
After being arrested, the driver and the evidence of the crime were transferred from the Environmental Police Department (PC49) of Nghe An Provincial Police to the Economic Police Department (PC46) for processing.
According to investigators from the PC 46 unit, samples from the tiger have been sent to the relevant authorities for examination and the results are available. On the morning of December 29th, this unit will issue a decision to initiate criminal proceedings and indict Nguyen Van Lap for violating regulations on the protection of endangered and rare forest animals.
According to investigators, this may be a tiger that was raised as a cub.
"Currently, Nguyen Van Lap still claims to have transported the tiger for a person named Hau residing in Quynh Giang commune, Quynh Luu district. However, authorities have not yet located the person as described by Lap," an investigating officer stated.
