Taliban relies on Chinese funding to restore economy
A representative of the Taliban recently said that they will rely on financial support from China to restore economic activities in Afghanistan.
In an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said the Taliban would “fight” to get the economy running again with China’s help.
“China is our most important partner and represents a fundamental and extraordinary opportunity for us, because China is ready to invest and rebuild our country,” said a Taliban representative.

Since the evacuation of foreign troops and citizens from Afghanistan in August, Western countries have tightened their aid to Afghanistan. Afghanistan is said to need money to restore its economy. However, the Taliban, which has been in power for three weeks, will have difficulty accessing the $10 billion in assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan in foreign accounts anytime soon./.
