On the evening of February 8, Thang Binh District Police (Quang Nam) confirmed a tragic drowning incident that had just occurred in the area, leaving 4 people dead and 2 people still missing.
Accordingly, at around 3:00 p.m. on February 8 (the 4th day of Tet), a group of 8 students (studying in grade 9/1, Nguyen Duy Hieu Secondary School, Binh Dinh Bac commune, Thang Binh district) invited each other to go swimming at the beach of Binh Minh commune (Thang Binh district).
While they were bathing, the children were swept away by the water. Upon discovering the incident, local people rushed to the rescue. Four students died and were brought to shore by rescuers and local people. Two missing people have not yet been found.
The local authorities have handed over the bodies of the drowned children to their families for funeral arrangements. Currently, the Quang Nam provincial police force and the Quang Nam provincial border guards are working with the local authorities and people to actively search for the remaining victims.
