On the afternoon of August 12th, Mr. Pham Van Diu, Director of the Thai Binh Department of Health, stated that the Department had ordered the temporary closure of the Dung Hop boxed meal production facility (Thai Binh city) to review its production process and clarify the cause of the food poisoning incident that resulted in 160 workers being hospitalized.

Earlier, at noon on August 10th, approximately 3,000 workers from six companies in the Phuc Khanh Industrial Park were served boxed meals produced by the Dung Hop facility. These companies included Molatex, Meina, Taihua, Dinh Luc, Summit, and Nien Hsing. The lunch consisted of water spinach soup with minced meat, cooked bananas, braised shrimp, and braised peanuts. By the morning of August 11th, a large number of workers had to be hospitalized at various hospitals: the Provincial General Hospital, Lam Hoa General Hospital (Thai Binh City), and Vu Thu District General Hospital, with symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea. A total of 160 workers were hospitalized, with Molatex having the highest number, exceeding 70 workers.
Immediately after the food poisoning incident occurred, the Food Safety and Hygiene Department collected food samples for testing to determine the cause. Authorities stated they suspected the food poisoning was due to bacterial contamination. Before the official test results were available, the Department of Health ordered the temporary closure of the Dung Hop boxed meal production facility to review the entire production process. It is reported that by 10:00 AM on August 12th, all affected workers had recovered and been discharged from the hospital.
The Dung Hop packaged rice production facility has been operating since 2009 and currently employs around 15-20 people directly involved in production.
