Suspension of mineral mining permits.

The Government Office has just issued a document conveying the Prime Minister's opinion on strengthening the management of mineral activities.

Accordingly, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung requested the Ministries of Natural Resources and Environment, Industry and Trade, Construction, and the People's Committees of provinces and cities to temporarily suspend the granting of permits for mineral exploration and exploitation nationwide from August 30, 2011, until further notice.

The Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to report on the current situation regarding the licensing of exploration and exploitation of various types of minerals nationwide and the necessary measures to improve management.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade must report on the planning and current status of exploitation, processing, and export of each type of mineral... According to the plan, the above contents will be reported to the Government at the regular meeting in September.
