Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai requested that localities proactively implement comprehensive measures to prevent and control avian influenza outbreaks.
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has agreed to temporarily suspend avian influenza vaccination in 2012 under the project "Using vaccines to control and eradicate highly pathogenic avian influenza in the period 2011-2012" in some localities as proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The Deputy Prime Minister also requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to issue specific notices and direct localities to proactively implement comprehensive measures to prevent and control the epidemic, in order to prevent the disease from occurring and spreading.
After the Department of Animal Health decoded the virus genes in the outbreaks and assessed the effectiveness of the H5N1 Re-5 vaccine, many experts recommended that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development propose to the Government to temporarily suspend the "Project on using vaccines to control and eradicate highly pathogenic avian influenza, 2011-2012" in the northern, central, Central Highlands, and some southeastern provinces; and only organize vaccination in 13 provinces in the Mekong Delta region.
