Detained 3 boats illegally mining sand and gravel on Lam River
(Baonghean.vn) - Three iron-hulled boats were illegally mining sand and gravel on Lam River, passing through Anh Son district, and were discovered by authorities, who temporarily detained their vehicles.
At 5:30 a.m. on May 14, the Environmental Police Department (Nghe An Provincial Police) broke up Project 618C and discovered many subjects using 3 iron-hulled boats to illegally exploit sand and gravel on Lam River, through Vinh Son Commune and Long Son Commune, Anh Son District.

The first boat was controlled by Mr. Pham Van Ngoc, born in 1967; on the boat was also his son Pham Van Loi, born in 1993, both residing in Hamlet 1, Lang Son Commune (Anh Son District). The second boat consisted of 4 people controlled by Mr. Vo Van Thanh, born in 1963, residing in Lang Son Commune. Both boats, after illegally mining gravel on Lam River in Vinh Son Commune, were discovered by the police while selling gravel at Tu Hai Wharf. The third boat, controlled by Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, born in 1993, and his younger brother, both residing in Long Son Commune, was caught red-handed while directly mining gravel illegally in Long Son Commune.

The Environmental Police Department coordinated with functional units to conduct inspections and determine the amount of gravel on all three boats. Accordingly, Mr. Pham Van Ngoc's boat had exploited more than 10m3Gravel, Mr. Tuan's boat exploited more than 19m3and Mr. Thanh's boat exploited more than 26m3. Through inspection of 3 illegal gravel mining boats, the owners of the vehicles could not present any legal documents about the boat or the boat's driver's license.
All three boats above use high-capacity vacuum cleaners with 6m long suction hoses to directly suck up sand and gravel. Gravel suction time is usually at dawn.

Currently, the Environmental Police Department has detained all vehicles and consolidated records to handle the subjects in accordance with the law.
