Detained man impersonating Ministry of Public Security officer to commit fraud
Ly Quang Thai pretended to be an officer of a professional department under the Ministry of Public Security to defraud the woman. Previously, Thai also pretended to be an officer of the Ministry of Public Security and was sentenced to 12 months in prison by the court.
On November 29, Tien Giang Provincial Police said that the Criminal Police Department had just handed over Ly Quang Thai (45 years old, residing in District 6, Ho Chi Minh City) to Chau Thanh District Police to investigate and clarify the acts of Forging, using fake seals and documents of agencies and organizations; Forging positions, ranks, and work positions; Fraudulent appropriation of property.

According to initial investigation, Thai was accused by a woman in Tan Huong commune (Chau Thanh) of "Fraudulent appropriation of property".
The Criminal Police Department of Tien Giang Province Police verified and worked with Thai. During the investigation, Thai stated that he was an employee of a real estate company operating in Tan Huong commune.
During the process of marketing the sale of apartments and social housing for the company, Thai met and rented the above-mentioned woman's house as a representative office. At the same time, Thai invited this woman to work as a collaborator in marketing social housing for him.
During the conversation, Thai introduced himself as an officer working at a professional department under the Ministry of Public Security. Thai "bragged" about knowing many leaders of state agencies at all levels.
To gain the woman's trust, Thai presented many fake documents and photos to make the victim believe he was a real police officer.
Thai offered to help this woman with some issues she was having a dispute with someone else. Trusting him, the woman gave Thai nearly 20 million VND and a phone worth 26 million VND to help her solve the problem.
When everything fell into “silence”, suspecting fraud, the woman reported it to the police. The police said Thai admitted to all of his actions.

Searching Thai's residence, the authorities seized many fake seals and documents from the Ministry of Public Security's professional departments.
In particular, Thai was sentenced to 12 months in prison by the People's Court of Long Xuyen City (An Giang) for the crime of "Forgery of position, rank, or job position", and has just completed his sentence.
At that time, Thai claimed to be an officer of the Ministry of Public Security and came to work with the Traffic Police Department of An Giang Province to verify the origin of a car. Using professional measures, the police determined that Thai's letter of introduction was fake.
