New Provincial Youth Union Secretary encourages young people to confidently start a business

(Baonghean) -New Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Youth Union Pham Tuan Vinh shared that in his new position, he will continue to work with the Provincial Youth Union Executive Committee to effectively carry out the "shock and companion" movements of union members and youth; at the same time, he requested that all levels of the Youth Union promote activities towards the grassroots.

PV:Congratulations on your recent election to the position of Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Youth Union for the 2012-2017 term. Could you share your thoughts on taking on the new position?

Comrade Pham Tuan Vinh:I am very honored and proud to be elected as Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Youth Union - a locality with a large number of youth and children, nearly 1 million people, accounting for about 27% of the population and 47% of the province's workforce.

Promoting the fine traditional values ​​of Vietnamese youth and the heroic revolutionary homeland, Nghe An Youth Union has grown rapidly, most of the youth live with ideals, believe in the leadership of the Party and the development of the province; constantly study, practice, improve their education, expertise, and profession; ready to take on new and difficult tasks, know how to share and join forces with the community.

In practice, more and more advanced models have appeared in various fields, which have been recognized and highly appreciated by Party committees, authorities at all levels and the people. These are great advantages for me when taking on my new position.

However, there are still many challenges and difficulties. That is the reality that a part of Nghe An youth has an indifferent attitude towards current issues of the country and the province; has a pragmatic lifestyle, fading ideals, is afraid to participate in activities of the Union; lacks knowledge of foreign languages, information technology, traditional values ​​of culture, history, independent thinking ability and social skills...

The use of the Internet by a number of young people in an unhealthy way, especially the influence of online games and social networks, causes harm to physical health and personality. Unemployment among young people is still high, the rate of trained workers in working age is still low, the quality is not high, and there is a lack of professionalism.

The number of young people working far away and lacking stability is relatively large, leading to a decrease in the number of young people present in the locality. The situation of law violations, social evils, and traffic violations has many complicated developments, focusing on young people, and school violence tends to increase...

The above advantages and challenges require me to continue to make efforts, unite, and collaborate in my new position to work with the Executive Committee of the Provincial Youth Union, term XVI, 2012 - 2017, to develop the Youth Union movement, worthy of being the political - social organization of Vietnamese youth in Nghe An province.

PV:So to do that, what are your plans?

Comrade Pham Tuan Vinh:In the coming time, I, together with the Provincial Youth Union Executive Committee, will continue to more effectively concretize the movement "Pioneering and volunteering to develop the socio-economy and protect the Fatherland" including: spearheading socio-economic development and international integration; spearheading volunteering for community life; spearheading to protect the Fatherland, maintain political security and social order - Programs and activities towards the island border; spearheading creative labor, mastering science and technology; spearheading to protect the environment, responding to climate change.

Along with that is the movement "Accompanying young people to establish themselves and their careers" including: accompanying young people in studying; accompanying young people in careers and jobs; accompanying young people in improving their physical and spiritual cultural life; accompanying young people in developing social skills.

In recent years, implementing the above movements, the Youth Union at all levels has promoted the emulation movement in studying among young people; making the most of support resources to build programs and projects for socio-economic development, creating job opportunities for young people.

However, we determine the results achievedstill not meeting the demands of society, the actual needs of the Youth Union. Therefore, the direction is not only to build the Youth Union movement on the surface but also to continue to focus on depth, towards a strong grassroots in a more proactive and positive spirit.

Thereby, affirming the role and position of Nghe An youth, contributing to the implementation of the targets of the Resolution of the 18th Provincial Party Congress, term 2015 - 2020 and Resolution 26 of the Politburo on the direction and tasks of developing Nghe An province until 2020; Resolution of the 10th National Youth Union Congress and Resolution of the 16th Provincial Youth Union Congress, term 2012 - 2017.

PV:As a youth leader, what message do you have for the Youth Union officials at all levels as well as the young generation of your province?

Comrade Pham Tuan Vinh:Continuing to identify "base quality as the focus; cadres as the key; gathering and uniting youth as the top priority", I suggest that all levels of the Youth Union actively innovate working methods, improve the quality of consulting, directing, inspecting and supervising the Youth Union; strengthen the building of a team of Youth Union cadres in accordance with the Youth Union cadre regulations, with political awareness, responsibility, and the ability to guide and organize activities for youth, advise youth and dialogue with youth.

Focus on innovating the work of training, fostering, coaching, planning, using, and rotating Youth Union cadres, paying special attention to Youth Union cadres at the grassroots level. Pay attention to training and fostering young female cadres, Youth Union cadres in special regions and coastal areas.

Strengthen the work of developing the Youth Union in conjunction with the program "Preparing Youth Union members" and the program "Training Youth Union members" to improve the quality of Youth Union members. Innovate the leadership and advisory work of the Youth Union in the direction of strengthening advisory work, making the most of the attention of Party committees at all levels, authorities, and higher-level Youth Unions; continue to advise on the implementation of the Youth Development Program for the period 2014 - 2020.

To the youth of Nghe An, I affirm that the Youth Union at all levels always accompanies you; at the same time, I hope that you will continue to train and strive comprehensively in the aspects of "literature - sports - aesthetics"; overcome the bad aspects such as the current situation of alcohol abuse by a large number of young people...

Through that, you will equip yourself with not only solid knowledge but also soft skills to meet integration requirements; boldly and confidently start a business in the spirit of Resolution 35 of the Government and the launch of the Central Youth Union.

According to the plan this November, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee will launch a Startup Ideas Competition for union members in the province and I really hope that union members and young people will actively participate. From there, the province's Youth Union will continue to contribute more and more to the innovation process, contributing to the development of Nghe An as Uncle Ho always wished.
