Ryan Zinke posted the corresponding photos on his own Twitter page. "I am honored to stand alongside the brave officers of the National Park Service. These professionals are willing to give their lives for us," Mr. Zinke wrote.

He also thanked his subordinates for the "warm welcome".

The Senate confirmed Mr. Zinke as head of the Interior Department on March 1. Before that, he was a member of the House of Representatives representing one of the most conservative states in the country, Montana.
