Why did the US choose B-2 aircraft to attack Iran's nuclear facilities?

After much speculation, the US has officially joined the conflict between Israel and Iran with a series of airstrikes on three nuclear facilities in Iran. President Donald Trump confirmed that the operation used B-2 stealth bombers to attack locations in Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan. This was what he called "a historic moment for America, Israel and the world".
