According to RT on October 2, the Wall Street Journal reported that Israel warned Iran that it will respond to any attack on its territory, regardless of its scale.

In particular, Israel has vowed to carry out direct attacks on Iran's nuclear or oil infrastructure, the Wall Street Journal said.

This scenario is considered highly likely to happen by The Economist and the British channel Sky News.

"Previously, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tried to convince Israeli generals of the strategic importance of an attack on Iran, but failed. Today, he may have proven to them that such a move has its advantages" – The Economist commented.

In addition, the Economist believes that US President Joe Biden will support or even participate in a campaign that could hinder Iran's nuclear program.

Israel has been preparing for a possible attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities for 20 years, according to the Economist. The Israeli military may have been under the impression that Iranian targets were vulnerable after it destroyed an air defense radar at a military base in Isfahan in April 2024.

Sky News also believes that Prime Minister Netanyahu could now “use Iran’s missile attack as a pretext to attack nuclear facilities” and will count on US support. If Israel escalates the conflict with the Islamic Republic, the Middle East could find itself “on the brink of war with the use of ballistic missiles”.

Sky News foreign policy commentator Dominic Waghorn said Israeli leaders may feel that now is their best opportunity to neutralize what they believe is a potential Iranian nuclear threat to Israel.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Iran's massive missile attack on Israel a "huge mistake" and said Tehran would pay a price for it.

Mr. Netanyahu called Iran's attack unsuccessful, because "it was intercepted by Israel's air defense force - the most advanced air defense force in the world.
