Bloody attack in Sri Lanka: Death toll rises to 290
According to the latest information, a series of bombings targeting luxury hotels and churches in Sri Lanka on April 21 killed 290 people.
The deadly Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka on April 21 left 290 people dead, many of them foreigners. The apparently coordinated attack was the deadliest in Sri Lanka in a decade, since a civil war that killed 100,000 people ended in 2009.

The series of bombings that killed 290 people in Sri Lanka also marked an escalation of violence against the South Asian country’s Christian minority. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but the government said eight people had been arrested and investigators would look into whether the attackers had “foreign links.”
Sri Lanka has also imposed a curfew and restricted access to social media to prevent "false information" from spreading in the country of 21 million people./.
