The final round of Miss World Philippines 2017 took place on the evening of September 3 in Pasay City, Philippines with the competition of 34 beauties.

Laura Lehmann beat out her rivals to take the top title. She received the crown from her predecessor Catriona Gray and reigning Miss World Stephanie del Valle.

At the moment of coronation, Laura Lehmann paled when standing next to Catriona Gray - the girl who was awarded the title Timeless Beauty 2016 by the beauty website Missosology.

The new beauty queen is 23 years old, a model and TV host. She was runner-up at the Binibining Pilipinas 2014 contest. With this victory, the beauty will represent the country in the Miss World beauty pageant, scheduled to be held in China on November 18.

In addition to Laura Lehmann's highest title, the Organizing Committee also awarded 3 other beauty queens and 2 runner-up prizes.

During the finale, Laura Lehmann was asked what she would say to people who don't believe in beauty pageants.

She replied: "I want to tell them to look at the girls standing here tonight, some are lawyers, some are architects. We come here not only for our outer beauty, but also for our inner beauty and intellectual beauty."

For the past 5 years, the Philippines has been a strong country in the Miss World arena, often achieving high results. Last year, Catriona Gray was expected to bring the Miss World crown to the Philippines, after the beauty Megan Young (in 2013).

But in the end she only made it to the top 5. Catriona Gray burst into tears on stage when the results were announced.
