The new Miss Türkiye was stripped of her crown just one day after her coronation for making sensitive statements related to political issues in the country.

According to AP, the Miss Türkiye organization stripped Itir Esen of her crown just one day after the 18-year-old was crowned. Accordingly, because of a sensitive share on social media by Itır Esen related to political issues, which were not beneficial and affected Miss Turkey, the organization quickly made the above decision.

Specifically, on the first anniversary of the presidential coup, the new beauty queen posted an article that was said to insult the 250 people who died when the Turkish army overthrew Erdogan's government in July 2016. According to Bloomberg, Itir Esen caused a "wave" of anger on social networking sites and the media of this country.

In a press release sent out, the Miss Türkiye Organizing Committee wrote: “We are saddened to announce the results of the investigation. The content was published by Itir Esen. The Miss Türkiye Organization - which wants to promote the image of Turkey to the world - cannot accept this.”

Although the new Miss Turkey confirmed that the account that posted the shocking content was not hers, after investigation, Can Sandikcioglu - head of the Miss Türkiye Organization said that he had confirmed that Itir Esen was the author of the shocking comment.

On the evening of September 21, the final night of the Miss Türkiye contest officially took place. Accordingly, the 18-year-old beauty Itır Esen, 1.8 m tall, was crowned Miss Turkey 2017. She is the country's representative at the Miss World 2017 contest.

The first runner-up of the contest, Asli Sumen, 23 years old, 1.72 m tall, was chosen as the replacement. Thus, Asli Sumen will represent the country to compete in Miss World 2017 in China later this year.
