New Miss: 'I didn't even dare think I would be in the top 5'

Do My Linh shared that she was confused when answering the behavioral question and answer round because she was very surprised to make it to this round in the final night of August 28.

On the evening of August 28, right after the final round of Miss Vietnam 2016 in Ho Chi Minh City, the new Miss Do My Linh, along with first runner-up Thanh Tu and second runner-up Thuy Dung, had a quick press conference.

Miss My Linh said she was completely surprised when her name was called in the Top 5 and then the winner of the crown. Before that, she did not think she could win, My Linh was innocent and comfortable mentally. She did not prepare much for the behavioral round - an important part of the final night. My Linh confided that she felt her answer was not as expected and hoped to have more opportunities to prove herself.

"Before that, I predicted that Thanh Tu or Thuy Dung would win the title of Miss. Perhaps the judges saw some ability or factor in me. I just know to try my best in this new role to be worthy of this choice," My Linh said. The beauty has not yet planned how to use the prize money.

When asked about Miss Vietnam 2014 - Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen - My Linh revealed that she and Ky Duyen knew each other a few years ago. They both used to be active in the same club. The new Miss commented that Ky Duyen is a very active and individualistic girl.

Sharing the reason for participating in Miss Vietnam 2016, My Linh said: "After stopping in the top 15 of Miss Universe 2015, I had no intention of continuing to compete in beauty contests. But many people advised me to compete in Miss Vietnam because my beauty is quite gentle and kind, suitable for the traditional woman model."

At the press conference, the issue of rumors of match-fixing, prize-buying... was once again brought up for dissection.

Regarding the information that the behavioral questions at Miss Vietnam 2016 were leaked on social networks before the final night, Mr. Le Xuan Son affirmed: "The organizing committee trained the contestants on the topics of the behavioral competition, but there were no answers for them to memorize and no questions were sent in advance."

Regarding the suspicion that 1st runner-up Ngo Thanh Thanh Tu was "bribed" to win the award because of her influence, those involved all denied it. The head of the organizing committee said he had heard this rumor, but after investigating, he did not find any sponsor related to Thanh Tu.

Runner-up Thanh Tu shared: "I believe that my appearance and academic achievements make me worthy of the title I have achieved." Both Thanh Tu and Thuy Dung were satisfied with the results. Like Miss My Linh, Thuy Dung herself felt that, in the beginning of the contest, she was not highly appreciated and did not stand out compared to the other contestants. Therefore, she came to the final round with a relaxed mentality, mainly focusing on learning and experiencing.
