Tan Ky: Abundant clean food for Tet
(Baonghean.vn) - At this time, farmers in Tan Ky district are focusing on preparing clean food sources to serve the 2018 Lunar New Year market.
In recent years, thanks to participating in the intensive vegetable growing model implemented by the Tan Ky District Farmers' Association, people of Ky Son commune have focused on growing commercial vegetables according to VietGAP standards.
This winter-spring crop, farmers in the area have planted 60 hectares, mainly vegetables of all kinds, pumpkin, squash, sweet potato, cucumber, kohlrabi, cabbage, cauliflower... Thanks to the application of intensive vegetable growing process, pests and diseases are limited, ensuring quality.

People said: To produce clean vegetables, we do not use pesticides, mainly use manure for fertilizer and water daily with well water; currently the vegetables are growing well, promising a significant income during Tet.
Tan Ky district currently has 86 farms, including 10 farms raising chickens of 1,000 - 5,000 each; 3 pig farms raising over 1,000 each and 474 farms raising wild boars, goats, cows... ready to provide food for Tet.

In Nghia Hanh commune - a locality that focuses on developing commercial livestock farming every year, there are nearly 4,000 buffaloes and cows, 10,000 pigs, 2,350 goats and more than 70,000 poultry.
To provide food for the market during Tet, recently, although prices have dropped and some food items have been oversupplied, many households have still invested in increasing their herds, raising free-range chickens, and fattening cows...
The locality also strengthens control and quarantine of livestock transported in and out of the area to limit the outbreak of diseases and ensure food safety for consumers.

Mr. Nguyen Cong Trung - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tan Ky district said that the district is encouraging the development of livestock farms and ranches; to improve sustainable economic efficiency, the district directs people to connect the state, farmers, and businesses to create stable output.
Focus on building the brand of Tan Ky goats, free range chickens, and semi-industrial cattle farming to improve product quality. Currently, Tan Ky is focusing on investing in building 3-5 types of local livestock products.
