(Baonghean.vn) -On the afternoon of May 6th, Ms. Ho Thi Loan, Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Tan Ky district, confirmed that a rockslide had occurred in the district, resulting in two deaths.

The rockslide occurred on the morning of May 5th at the Len Roi quarry, located in Ky Tan commune. Two people were killed by the falling rocks: Mr. Le Van Tro (45 years old), residing in Giang Son Tay commune, Do Luong district, and Mr. Nguyen Van Quang (47 years old), residing in Ky Tan commune, Tan Ky district.

At that time, a group of about four people were working at the foot of the Len Roi quarry when suddenly a rock fell from above, crushing them and killing Mr. Tro and Mr. Quang. These two victims were employees of Kieu Phuong Company, headquartered in Tan Ky district town.

Ms. Ho Thi Loan stated that the Len Roi quarry was licensed to Kieu Phuong Company and its mining license expired in 2012. Currently, the company has ceased mining operations and is in the process of applying for an extension.

Mr. To Anh Phuong, Director of Kieu Phuong Company, stated that the two victims were daily wage workers for the company. The accident occurred on a Sunday, a day when the company was closed. For some reason, some people were still present at the construction site, leading to the unfortunate accident. Following the accident, Kieu Phuong Company provided 65 million VND to the family of Mr. Le Van Tro and 75 million VND to the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Quang.

Immediately after the rockslide occurred, the Tan Ky District Police were present at the scene, documented the incident, and investigated the cause. The local authorities of Tan Ky District also visited and offered condolences to the families of the two victims.
