Sebastian Kurz – 31-year-old politician of the People's Party has officially become the Chancellor of Austria.
By handing victory to a 31-year-old politician on October 15, Austria made the “daringest political gamble” in its history.
Born in 1986, Kurz has served as Austria's Foreign Minister since 2013 and is the youngest Foreign Minister in Europe at the age of 27. In May 2017, he became chairman of the Austrian People's Party OVP.
Kurz was born in Vienna and grew up in the Meidling area – where he still resides today.
