Strengthening rabies prevention

(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of September 23, in Vinh city, the Ministry of Health coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize the 2016 Scientific Conference on Rabies Prevention.

In recent years, rabies prevention in Vietnam has received attention and has made impressive progress in efforts to eliminate rabies through inter-sectoral coordination between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Health and local authorities.

In the first 9 months of 2016, the country recorded 49 deaths from rabies in 20 provinces and cities (in the same period last year, in 22 provinces and cities, there were 58 deaths, with Nghe An province alone having the highest number of deaths, with 6 cases).

At the workshop, delegates focused on discussing: Methods for calculating the effectiveness of rabies vaccination; increasing the collection of rabies test specimens in Vietnam... At the same time, according to experts, rabies can be completely prevented if detected early and treated early according to the recommendations of veterinary and medical agencies.
