(Baonghean.vn) -On February 7, 2013, the Government Office issued Document No. 1238/VPCP-KTN announcing the directive of Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai on strengthening the management, exploration, exploitation, transportation, and trading of river sand and gravel.
On February 20, 2013, the Provincial People's Committee assignedDepartmentTNThe Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DNRE) advised on the effective implementation of the Deputy Prime Minister's directives. In accordance with the Provincial People's Committee's directives, to strengthen the management of exploration, exploitation, and transportation of sand and gravel in riverbeds and to protect unexploited sand and gravel in the area, on February 25, 2013, the DNRE issued Document No. 426/STNMT.KS requesting the People's Committees of districts, Vinh City, and Thai Hoa town to: Strengthen the management of exploration, exploitation, and transportation of sand and gravel in the area by organizations licensed by competent authorities; handle cases of labor safety violations, environmental pollution, and impacts on dike and flood control safety, causing public concern; and direct relevant departments to thoroughly inspect and handle organizations and individuals involved in the illegal exploitation, transportation, stockpiling, and trading of sand and gravel without proper origin documentation.
Also in Document No. 426, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment requested the People's Committees of the districts, Vinh City, and Thai Hoa town to report the results of implementation to the Provincial People's Committee before March 5, 2013.
