Strengthening measures to ensure traffic safety and order.
(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of August 7th, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a conference on strengthening measures to ensure traffic safety and order in the province. Comrades Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee; and Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, chaired the conference.

The delegates chaired the conference.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong delivered the concluding remarks at the conference.
Over the past 7 months, the traffic safety situation has been complex, with traffic accidents showing an increase in both the number of incidents and fatalities compared to the same period last year. The province recorded 193 traffic accidents, resulting in 126 deaths and 176 injuries. Compared to the same period in 2012, this represents an increase of 1 accident (0.5%), 5 deaths (4.1%), and a decrease in injuries. Ten out of 21 localities saw a significant increase in traffic accident fatalities, including Tuong Duong, Quy Chau, Thai Hoa town, Thanh Chuong, Quy Hop, Anh Son, Hung Nguyen, Cua Lo town, Nghia Dan, and Que Phong district. The main reasons for the increase in traffic accidents are drivers failing to control their speed, driving in the wrong lane or section of the road, and not paying attention; the majority of those involved in traffic accidents are men aged 18 to 55.
Leadership and guidance in ensuring traffic safety in some localities and units have not been consistent or decisive; some departments, agencies, district People's Committees, and heads of organizations have not fully utilized their roles, responsibilities, and functions in mobilizing the maximum strength of the entire political system to actively participate in ensuring traffic safety.

Comrade Nguyen Hong Ky reported on the situation and results of traffic safety work.
At the conference, delegates frankly pointed out shortcomings and objective and subjective causes; at the same time, they made suggestions and proposed solutions to overcome and resolve these issues in order to restore traffic safety in the future.
In his concluding remarks at the conference, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong acknowledged the efforts of departments, agencies, and localities in implementing and directing state management of traffic safety activities, contributing to reducing traffic accidents; however, he criticized some units, sectors, and localities for allowing violations and traffic accidents to increase. To improve traffic safety in the coming period, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the decisive involvement of departments, agencies, and units, and the heads of local traffic safety committees; emphasized the responsibility of leaders; and stressed that functional forces, especially the police and transport authorities, need to further strengthen patrol and control operations, combined with the task of disseminating information and mobilizing the public to strictly abide by traffic safety laws, contributing to reducing traffic accidents...
