Strengthening the detection of smuggling and trade fraud cases

Arrested 36,404 drug criminals

In 2020, the direction and management activities of the Government's Steering Committee 138 and the local Steering Committees have received attention and focused direction. The close coordination and support between central ministries, departments, branches, local Party committees and authorities; and the support and assistance of all classes of people in ensuring more substantial security and order.

Accordingly, the authorities have investigated and discovered 35,872 criminal cases.social order, reaching 83.5% (higher than the target set by the National Assembly by 8.5%); very serious and especially serious cases reached 91.13% (higher than the assigned target by 1.13%); 1,860 criminal gangs and groups of all kinds were dismantled, strongly suppressing and repelling crimes related to "black credit" activities; arresting, persuading people to surrender, and eliminating 5,383 wanted subjects (an increase of 3.02%). Receiving 100% of crime reports and denunciations, the resolution rate reached 89.5%.

Detected and handled 20,550 economic crimes; 277 cases of corruption and position crimes. Detected and handled 90 cases, 143 criminals, law violators in the field of telecommunications and information technology. Detected and handled 25,129 cases of environmental law violations (up 4.83% compared to 2019). Detected and handled 24,548 cases, arrested 36,404 criminalsdrug(12.85% more cases; 9.15% more subjects than the same period in 2019). Seized 738.35 kg of heroin, 3,430.8 kg of synthetic drugs and 2,066,637 synthetic drug pills.

In 2020, the Steering Committee 389 of ministries, branches and localities implemented synchronous and drastic work. According to statistics of functional forces nationwide, they detected and handled 185,461 violations (down 16.3% compared to the same period in 2019), collected 24,817 billion 656 million VND to the State budget (up 15.39% compared to the same period), prosecuted 2,543 cases (up 28.3% compared to the same period), and 3,502 subjects (up 49.46% compared to the same period).

In 2020, the Steering Committee 389 of Nghe An province proactively developed and issued many plans and official dispatches directing the synchronous implementation of many flexible solutions, strengthening the prevention of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods. In 2020, the authorities organized inspections and handled 8,036 administrative violations (a decrease of 761 cases, reaching 91% compared to the same period). Criminal prosecution was initiated in 376 cases/500 subjects. The total value of fines collected was 227 billion 168 million VND.

Review and handle responsibilities for leaders

At the conference, delegates from various sectors and localities focused on discussing, proposing ideas, exchanging solutions and experiences in combating, preventing and controlling crimes and social evils; preventing smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the coming time.

Concluding the conference, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh commended and highly appreciated the results and achievements of ministries, branches and localities in 2020 - the year of successfully implementing the dual goals of both preventing and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and recovering and developing the socio-economy, ensuring social security and people's lives and health.

At the same time, it is pointed out that in the work of preventing and combating crime, some cases of slow information gathering have caused insecurity and disorder, and some serious crimes still occur; in many places, crimes related to "protection" and "black credit" still occur, leading to debt collection, debt collection, property extortion, illegal detention, etc.

The situation of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods remains complicated, due to many objective and subjective reasons, including lack of responsibility, lax management, and even cover-up and complicity by some officials and civil servants.

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh requested that in the coming time, members of Steering Committee 138 at all levels continue to focus on leading and directing the effective implementation of directives, resolutions and programs of the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly and the Government, focusing on effectively implementing the tasks and targets in Resolution No. 96/2019/QH14 of the National Assembly and the Government's programs.

Identifying the prevention and combat of crime and law violations as one of the key tasks, both urgent, regular and long-term. In particular, it is necessary to focus on effectively combating crimes such as: Organized crimes, crimes using weapons and explosives to commit crimes, crimes against children, crimes of human trafficking, smuggling, violations of environmental laws, crimes using high technology...
