Strengthening coordination between the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Veterans Association.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 12, 2014, the People's Committee and the Veterans Association of Nghean province held a conference to evaluate the results of the three-year implementation of the cooperation program between the People's Committee and the Veterans Association of Nghean province. Representatives from the People's Committee, the Veterans Association, and several relevant departments attended. The conference was chaired by the Chairman of the People's Committee, Nguyen Xuan Duong, and the Chairman of the Veterans Association, Major General Nguyen Phong Phu.
Over the past three years, the six contents of the cooperation program between the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Veterans Association have been seriously implemented and achieved many practical results. The Provincial People's Committee has promptly informed the Veterans Association of the Party, State, and local policies and guidelines, as well as the situation, policies, and mechanisms for socio-economic development in the province. At the same time, it has directed relevant agencies to prioritize creating jobs for the children of veterans and ensuring the necessary funding and facilities for the activities of the Veterans Association at all levels. Following the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, the Veterans Association has strengthened political and ideological education, encouraged members to participate in building and protecting the Party and government, contributing to maintaining political stability in the locality. Simultaneously, it has actively participated in movements such as "All people unite to build a cultured life," the "All people participate in protecting national security" movement, and poverty reduction efforts. The Veterans Association, in coordination with veteran-owned businesses, provided 21.549 billion VND in support to the poor; mobilized relatives and clans to contribute money and labor to build 376 houses of gratitude and repair hundreds of other houses for policy beneficiaries, with a total value of over 35 billion VND. Veterans Association businesses also ensured employment for 23,500 workers, including veterans, former soldiers, children of veterans, and other workers.
Veterans' Associations, along with members of the Fatherland Front, participate in monitoring the activities of state agencies, officials, and civil servants, advising and proposing to Party committees and authorities at all levels to promptly handle prominent local issues in a reasonable, compassionate, and highly effective manner.
The conference also identified shortcomings and deficiencies to be addressed in the future; and outlined a program for coordinating work between the Provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Veterans Association from now until the end of 2015. Accordingly, the two sides will coordinate to complete and exceed the targets and objectives of the province's socio-economic, national defense, security, and foreign affairs goals for 2014 and 2015; and coordinate the implementation of programs and projects of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee in the process of implementing Resolution 26 of the Politburo on the tasks of developing Nghe An until 2020.
