Strengthening Ebola prevention
On October 4, in the face of the complicated developments of the Ebola virus epidemic, with a very high risk of entering our country, the Ministry of Health sent an official dispatch to the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and cities nationwide regarding strengthening measures to prevent Ebola.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Health requests the Chairmen of the People's Committees of centrally-run provinces and cities to direct the Department of Health to closely monitor people entering the country to detect people suspected of being infected with Ebola virus disease in order to take measures to prevent the disease from entering. Monitor the health of people coming from Ebola virus epidemic areas to reside in the provinces and cities. At the same time, organize propaganda and health education for people and tourists about the development of the epidemic situation and effective measures to prevent and control Ebola virus disease. Prepare treatment facilities, medical examination and treatment equipment, drugs, and chemicals to prevent and control Ebola virus disease. Carry out information and disease reporting work according to regulations.
The Ministry of Health also requested the Department of Information and Communications of localities and mass media agencies to proactively and promptly report on the epidemic situation so that people do not panic, worry and take good disease prevention measures when necessary according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health.
According to the announcement of the World Health Organization, as of October 1, the world recorded 7,227 cases of Ebola virus disease, including 3,372 deaths, especially 219 health workers died out of 383 health workers infected. This dangerous epidemic has been recorded in 7 countries, including: Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Congo, Senegal and the United States.
For Vietnam, up to now, there have been no recorded cases of Ebola virus infection, but the risk of this dangerous disease entering our country is very high. Through surveillance work at Vietnam's border gates from August 11 to now, there are 42 Vietnamese citizens and 201 foreigners entering Vietnam from West African countries that are seriously affected by the Ebola virus epidemic.
