Strengthening cooperation between Spain and Nghe An province

The Vietnam - Spain Friendship Association of Nghe An province was established in 2006 and is one of 16 member organizations of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Nghe An province.

During the past term, the Association has contributed to bringing closer and more understanding between the two countries and people of Vietnam and Spain. The Association has many practical activities contributing to diplomacy, people-to-people diplomacy, and promoting economic cooperation between the two sides.

Spain has helped Nghe An with many poverty reduction projects, upgrading facilities, medical equipment, transportation, irrigation for units and districts in the province worth tens of billions of VND, sponsored by two non-governmental organizations Anesvad, Nesvad and Codespa, and has effectively brought many benefits to the people in the province, especially in remote areas.

Speaking at the congress, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Nam Dinh highly appreciated the efforts of the Association in the past time. He hoped that in the 2019 - 2024 term, the Association would closely coordinate with the Nghe An Union of Friendship Organizations in effectively implementing 5 key programs, including: promoting external information and propaganda work; focusing on the development of the Association and recruiting more young members; actively innovating the content and form of people-to-people exchanges; proactively participating in resource exploitation, connecting with the Central Association to call on Spanish businesses and non-governmental organizations to cooperate with Nghe An province; at the same time, trying to develop the association's fund in many forms to be proactive in activities.

The Congress elected 19 Executive Committee members of the Vietnam - Spain Friendship Association of Nghe An province, term III, 2019-2024.

The Congress called on members and business organizations to actively respond and contribute to the association's activities, aiming to strengthen and consolidate the strategic cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Spain.

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to individuals with outstanding achievements in people-to-people diplomacy activities; and awarded the Commemorative Medal of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations to individuals for peace and friendship among nations.
