Increase women's participation in management positions.

(Baonghean) - On the afternoon of February 19th, under the chairmanship of Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women held a meeting to discuss the restructuring and issuance of the draft regulations on the operation of the committee; and the Plan for implementing the National Program on Gender Equality and activities for the Advancement of Women in 2014.

In accordance with Decision No. 457 dated January 25, 2014, of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Committee for the Advancement of Women was restructured to include 25 members, chaired by Mr. Le Xuan Dai, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. The meeting discussed the draft regulations on the organization and operation of the committee, assigning specific responsibilities to its members. Regarding the plan for implementing the National Program on Gender Equality and activities for the Advancement of Women in 2014, members thoroughly discussed and set specific goals for increasing women's participation in management and leadership positions; reducing the gender gap in the economic and labor sectors; improving the quality of female human resources; and ensuring gender equality in access to and enjoyment of healthcare services.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Xuan Dai emphasized: Members of the Steering Committee should carefully study and provide feedback to finalize the committee's operational regulations by the end of February. He also assigned the Standing Committee, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, to advise on the establishment of a support team. Members should effectively carry out inspection work in the units and localities under their responsibility. The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs should coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to accurately assess gender equality indicators from previous years, and based on that, develop targets for 2014.
