Russian T-90 tank shows off combat capabilities
Russia's modern T-90 tank line demonstrates precise firing skills in different combat terrain conditions.
On September 9, the Russian Ministry of Defense released a video of soldiers conducting combat exercises with T-90 tanks to celebrate the anniversary of the country's armored force, according to Sputnik.
In the video, the three-man crew, including driver, gunner and commander, practiced scenarios to demonstrate the T-90's maneuverability and firepower at an undisclosed training ground.
The Russian-made T-90 tank is considered one of the most modern main battle tanks today. The vehicle is equipped with advanced active and passive defense systems, especially the Shtora-1 system that can neutralize enemy guided missiles.
The T-90 is equipped with a 125 mm 2A46 M main gun with the ability to launch anti-tank missiles through the barrel. Secondary weapons include a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun and a 12.7 mm NSV remote-controlled anti-aircraft machine gun.
The most modern upgraded version of the T-90 is the T-90M, which has an automatic target tracking system and a more powerful fire control computer. The vehicle uses a new engine model with a capacity of 1,300 horsepower.
The T-90M is equipped with new composite armor and integrated Relikt explosive reactive armor modules, replacing the Kontakt-5 version on the T-90A. The front of the turret is also equipped with an additional layer of cage armor to block HEAT warheads, increasing effectiveness against dual warheads of RPG-29 or TOW-2A.
The side of the vehicle is also fitted with Relikt armor for added protection. This armor can reduce the penetration of APFSDS rounds by 50%, as well as neutralize dual-explosive HEAT warheads. The jamming transmitter has been significantly reduced compared to previous versions, making it difficult for the enemy to destroy this device.
