Create a financial mechanism for two joint universities

On the morning of August 17, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan had a working session with the Ministries of Education and Training, Finance, Planning and Investment, Science and Technology, Foreign Affairs and the Government Office to listen to and give opinions on the financial mechanism for the Vietnamese-German University (VGU) and the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH).

On the morning of August 17, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan had a working session with the Ministries of Education and Training, Finance, Planning and Investment, Science and Technology, Foreign Affairs and the Government Office to listen to and give opinions on the financial mechanism for the Vietnamese-German University (VGU) and the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH).

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan gave his opinion on salary mechanisms, tuition fees, marketing plans, development programs, and training ordering mechanisms.

The Deputy Prime Minister agreed to assign the Ministry of Education and Training to send a document to the Ministry of Science and Technology allowing the two schools to act as direct focal points and be responsible for scientific and technological activities with the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan stated, “With the systematic investment of the Vietnamese-German and Vietnamese-French governments, with many attractive training majors and excellent foreign lecturers, it is possible to consider allowing two universities to charge tuition fees of up to 5,000 USD/year, so that the schools can be proactive in finance as well as attracting students.”

On the afternoon of August 19, the Government Office will continue to have a working session with the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Finance and the two schools to unify and specify a number of requests from Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan to speed up the activities of the two units before the 2013-2014 school year.
