Motivating young people to get involved and contribute.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2024), Nghe An Newspaper had a conversation with Comrade Le Van Luong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union.
PV:Comrade, the story of young people and their commitment has been a topic of great social interest recently. In your opinion, what does commitment by young people mean, and how have the youth of Nghe An demonstrated this commitment?
Comrade Le Van Luong:In my opinion, the commitment of young people is the readiness to overcome difficulties and challenges to achieve their goals. This commitment is not for personal gain, but for the common good of the group, and should be genuine and pure in the environment in which they work.
Regardless of the conditions or circumstances, the most common denominator that creates value and contributes to the success of young people is commitment.

Commitment must truly become a way of life, a driving force that motivates young people to act for a greater cause. On another level, with a readiness to commit, young people also create an environment for themselves to train, accumulate experience, challenge themselves, and mature in their thinking, awareness, and actions.
From that perspective, the youth of Nghe An have basically upheld the traditions of their homeland, possessing firm political convictions, contributing their intellect, youthful energy, and enthusiasm to carrying out many new and challenging tasks aimed at the community and society.

Just recently, many young people have volunteered to enlist in the military. In these passionate applications, they express their desire to contribute and grow within the military, even knowing it is a harsh and challenging environment.
The youth volunteer movement, with its focus on deploying human resources and mobilizing material resources to support disadvantaged villages and remote areas, has always been implemented enthusiastically and responsibly by the province's youth.

Thanks to the efforts of young people, many community bridges, charitable houses, and well-equipped and organized computer rooms have been built, all focused on the people and disadvantaged areas of the province. In localities that are completing the criteria for building new rural areas, the image of young people working together to build roads, install lighting systems, and eliminate garbage hotspots has become familiar to local Party committees, authorities, and residents.

In particular, during the period when the entire province was struggling to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic, the youth of the province coordinated with other forces to establish and maintain 750 rapid response volunteer youth teams participating in disease prevention and control, with more than 45,000 youth union members and young people participating.

In this context, the Youth Union, in coordination with the Health sector, called on volunteers and medical students to participate in the fight against the epidemic. Many new models and effective methods in manufacturing disinfectant solutions and disinfectant machines, promoting the installation of Bluezone and Ncovi software, health declaration, mask wearing, temperature checks, and social distancing... have made significant contributions to the province's effective and safe fight against the epidemic.
These efforts have enhanced the image of the volunteer's blue uniform at times when society needed them. It was a dedicated effort that was recognized and supported by the people and the Party committee.

PV:The commitment of Nghe An's youth to social welfare activities and community service is clearly evident. So, what about in the economic field, Comrade?
Comrade Le Van Luong:It can be said that young people embarking on their own paths to self-reliance and entrepreneurship is not only an opportunity for them to pursue their passions but also to create value for society. In Nghe An, there are many examples of young people overcoming difficulties to start businesses. These include young people with disabilities like Hoang Kim Vi (born in 1992) in Hung Nguyen district, who have bravely overcome health challenges to successfully develop a comprehensive farm model.
Even Le Van Dong (born in 1994), a young man with a disability in Thai Hoa town, has successfully started his own business in the food and beverage industry and also fulfills his role as a Youth Union and Association official in his local community.

Along with that, entering the 4.0 revolution, many young people in Nghe An have shown keen thinking and quick adaptation to the times to start businesses on digital technology platforms. A typical example is Nghiem Tien Vien (born in 1990) with his GoStream application supporting livestreaming on the Facebook platform, which is among the Top 30 in the world and one of the 6 startups introduced at Techfest USA 2019...

On a provincial level, by the end of 2023, the youth of Nghe An had implemented and realized 1,655 economic models, ideas, and initiatives from Youth Union members, successfully exceeding the set target.

The effective operation of these economic models has demonstrated the strong entrepreneurial spirit of Nghe An's youth in the new context. This has significantly contributed to the province's overall economic development and helped create jobs for thousands of local workers.
PV:Clearly, the youth of Nghe An have reaped the rewards of their many efforts and contributions. So, behind these achievements, does the Youth Union organization serve as a support system for its members and young people to train and grow?
Comrade Le Van Luong:The Youth Union is implementing three programs to support and assist young people: supporting young people in their studies; supporting young people in starting and developing businesses; and supporting young people in training and developing life skills, improving physical health, and enhancing their cultural and spiritual lives.

Regarding the first program, the Youth Union and Youth Association at all levels organized many practical activities to encourage young people to study, improve their skills, and promote the creation of a friendly and positive learning environment for them. They gradually coordinated with educational institutions to effectively implement the "5 Good Students," "3 Good Students," and "3 Disciplined Students" movements to create conditions for their comprehensive development.

Regarding the second program, youth organizations at all levels have implemented numerous activities to provide career counseling, networking, and job orientation for young people. In areas with many shortcomings, youth organizations at all levels have made great efforts and shown creativity in seeking and organizing activities to support young people.
In 2023, the outstanding loan balance entrusted through the Social Policy Bank by the Youth Union reached over 2.125 billion VND (an increase of 17% compared to the beginning of 2022), providing loans to 400 policy beneficiary households and young people for economic development and job creation.
Many youth economic development models have emerged, generating annual incomes ranging from 200 to 400 million VND, creating a bright foundation for economic development for young people and union members throughout the province.
Finally, creating a training environment and organizing practical activities for young people to participate in, such as community support, contributing to projects in disadvantaged areas, and participating in cultural exchange activities, has helped cultivate a sense of responsibility and patriotism among youth union members. From there, they become active citizens and contribute to the development of society.

PV:We've discussed the meaning of commitment and dedication, so what advice do you have for young people in our province to strive to achieve that?
Comrade Le Van Luong:Young people may understand the meaning of commitment, but not everyone can immediately take concrete actions. In my opinion, for young people to live a committed life and create positive values for themselves, their community, and society, there are four elements they need to cultivate: self-improvement, self-belief, the courage to face their fears, and the development of a reasonable plan and roadmap.

Self-improvement is a continuous process of learning, developing skills, and acquiring knowledge. Young people need to constantly update their information, participate in courses and training to enhance their professional skills and soft skills. In addition, they also need to participate in practical experiences to accumulate experience and broaden their horizons.
Once they have acquired valuable knowledge and experience, self-confidence will help them find solutions to complex problems. At the same time, it encourages them and others around them to dare to face their fears. This is the foundation for young people to develop mental strength, courage, and the ability to solve problems creatively.

Ultimately, building a sound plan and roadmap involves setting specific goals and taking steps to achieve them. Young people need a clear and adaptable plan to move forward day by day towards success.
I believe that these will be solid foundations for them to realize their ambitions, build their future, and contribute to the community and society!
PV:Thank you for the conversation!
