"Creating an environment where retired party members can contribute"...

(Baonghean) - As a retired police officer with a high salary and the owner of a successful business, he should ideally be resting and spending time with his family outside of his business activities. So why does he still enthusiastically take on the role of Party branch secretary?

- As a police officer, I deeply understand the six teachings of President Ho Chi Minh to the People's Police: "Serve the Fatherland, serve the people,"... I think that retirement is when the State allows you to leave your job, but the Party Charter does not specify an age for "retirement" for Party members, so Party members...

We must constantly strive for the goals and ideals of the Party; we must always uphold a sense of responsibility and continue to contribute to society as long as we have the strength. As a business owner, although I have very limited time, I am ready to accept new tasks to contribute my efforts to serving the local people. And my view is that when assigned a task, I must always strive my best to complete it excellently...

- It is known that, in his role as Party Branch Secretary, he has successfully mobilized the people's strength and "steered" Block 11 to become one of the leading units in all movements of Hong Son Ward?

- Uncle Ho taught: "A task that is a hundred times easier will fail without the people's support, but a task that is a thousand times more difficult will succeed with the people's participation." I think the most important thing is to earn the people's trust. Once the people trust the cadres, anything can be accomplished. Party members and branch secretaries who want to effectively fulfill their roles must always be close to the people, understand their needs, set a good example, and act as leaders to create a ripple effect. In campaigns to collect contributions, taxes, and funds, Party members and cadres should always be at the forefront, doing more than what is required. Furthermore, everything must be open and transparent to the people...

- Yes, the issue is to implement democracy within the Party and among the people... And sir, it must be affirmed that the majority of retired Party members demonstrate a good sense of responsibility in meeting the demands of the Party organization; however, there is a current reality that some retired Party members do not participate in Party activities. What are your thoughts on this issue?

- I'm genuinely concerned for my colleagues. Upon retirement, they think their responsibilities are over, that they have no obligations, no longer participate in Party activities, no longer pay Party dues, and are alienated from the people. But they don't realize that they still receive a monthly salary, and since that salary comes from the people, they have a responsibility to the people and the Party. The higher their position and salary, the greater their responsibility. I think that while these colleagues haven't yet shown such self-awareness, the State needs to establish specific regulations and binding rules...

- So, what methods does the Party Branch of Block 11, Hong Son Ward, use to encourage retired Party members in the area to actively participate in the neighborhood development movement, sir?

- First and foremost, the Party branch must innovate and improve the quality of its activities to make them attractive and encourage full participation from all Party members. At the same time, it should regularly meet and exchange ideas with Party members residing in the area, fostering closeness and harmony, and promptly identifying and correcting those who are not exemplary. In short, it's about creating a good environment for retired Party members to readily integrate, commit to the Party branch, and wholeheartedly contribute to the development of the locality.
