Creating attraction for Team activities and children's movement in Nghe An

On the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Team (May 15, 1941 - May 15, 2022), Nghe An Newspaper had a conversation with Mr. Thai Minh Sy - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Provincial Pioneer Council on the issue of how to make the Team's activities increasingly diverse, creating attraction for members.

Create useful and creative playgrounds

PV:Along with the whole country, the work of the Team membersteenagers, childrenIn the whole Nghe An province, there have been many outstanding achievements. Could you tell us about the results that our teams have achieved in recent years?

Mr. Thai Minh Sy:During the 2017 - 2022 term, with the innovation in content and implementation methods of Team activities, Team work and children's movements have had positive changes; gradually meeting the practical requirements of the process of developing the homeland and the country; contributing to the work of caring for, protecting and educating teenagers and children in the whole province. In particular, the movement "Vietnamese children compete to follow Uncle Ho's 5 teachings" is a large, continuous movement, the content covers many important aspects of the Team organization's work; there have been many good models, new, creative and effective ways of doing things, highly appreciated by the social community.

The "Power to School" programs areTeam CouncilAll levels have paid attention to directing many meaningful activities. During the past term, thousands of scholarships, along with many books, school supplies, and means of transportation to school were awarded to poor students with difficult circumstances. Playgrounds for training, life skills education activities, contents on preventing and combating social evils, preventing and combating school violence, preventing and combating accidents and injuries, and preventing and combating drowning for students have been invested in with many effective models such as the program "Mobile swimming pool", "Drowning rescue tires", "Military semester", "Learning to be a useful person"...

The movements of the Team such as: "Tran Quoc Toan" work, "Small Plan" movement, "Thousand Good Deeds" movement were well organized at the grassroots level, had great educational significance and brought high efficiency, and were recognized by the Central Team Council.

PV:It is known that on the occasion of the traditional day of Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Team,Nghe An Provincial Youth Unionhas organized many interesting competitions such as: Creativity with Code Kiten with the theme "Pride of children in Uncle Ho's homeland", Festival of young propaganda teams, Creative Festival - Festival of creative clubs for society... Can you share about these competitions?

Mr. Thai Minh Sy:The current competitions organized by the Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Youth Union Council are mainly online and are adjusted to suit the Covid-19 epidemic situation in districts, cities and towns. Each competition has a different theme and field such as programming, propaganda to prevent drowning, design products to serve life, study, living, ensuring safety, the most important thing through the competitions is that the students are the participants, the propagandists, affirming their own voices, passions and interests.

Through each competition, the Provincial Council of Young Pioneers has seen the serious participation in implementing the activities of the base, the excitement, active participation, dynamism, and creative approach of the children. For example: The Code Kiten Creativity Competition, after more than 3 months of implementation, had more than 6,000 products participating in the competition, 10 times higher than the initial expectation of the Organizing Committee.

That shows that the contest has created a widespread influence, a useful and creative playground, helping Nghe An children have the opportunity to show their talent, knowledge and creativity when participating in programming technology products...

Strengthening skills training for the young generation

PV:We see that the current work of the Young Pioneers is very different from the past and requires a lot of creativity, practicality and meaning. As Chairman of the Provincial Young Pioneer Council, what difficulties do you see in the current work of the Young Pioneers?

Mr. Thai Minh Sy: Nghe An is a province with a large natural area, with diverse differentiation in terms of residential areas, ethnic groups, living standards, many teams in rural, remote and mountainous areas have difficult operating conditions in terms of both equipment and operating methods; the quality of Team activities between localities is still relatively large, especially between mountainous and plain areas; the change and concurrent holding of teachers as Team leaders in some teams leads to confusion in the quality of professional expertise of Team work, skills, enthusiasm, and implementation methods; the attention and resources devoted to the care and education of children and Team building are not commensurate with the requirements; the implementation of Team activities still depends largely on the teaching and learning program of the school.

In the past 2 years, the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic have disrupted students' learning, playing and entertainment, and affected the activities of the Youth Union and children's movements, requiring changes in content and organization methods to be appropriate.

PV:The Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Team plays a very important role for the team members and other organizations. So, what orientations and changes has the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union made so that the team work can increasingly attract the participation of team members, children and schools?

Mr. Thai Minh Sy:When the social environment has changed a lot, with the strong development of science and technology, it is necessary to innovate the movements and activities of the Team to be truly suitable and attractive to children. Faced with the above problems, the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers Team of Nghe An province determined that it is necessary to resolutely implement solutions to effectively innovate the children's movement. The solutions are focused on the foundation of 3 main goals to encourage the creativity and innovation of Team cadres at all levels, teachers in charge of the Team; Promote the initiative, the spirit of mastering the movement of children and manage, control, and adjust the quality of the movement to be orderly and substantial. The innovation will be in the direction of focusing on implementing the concretization of the continuous movement "Vietnamese children compete to follow Uncle Ho's 5 teachings" with practical, effective movements and campaigns of high educational and directional nature.

Nowadays, children participate in social networks a lot and many trends appear on the internet, so the work of the Youth Union also needs to catch up with this flow to orient and educate children, thereby creating healthy and useful playgrounds, helping children interact safely on the internet environment, digital platforms, and technology platforms.

In addition, Team activities will have to focus on training skills to help students become confident and independent future citizens in international integration.

PV:As you shared, the current work of the Young Pioneers has certain difficulties, both in terms of conditions for implementing activities and human resources... In that context, in your opinion, to improve the quality and effectiveness of the Young Pioneers' work, what issues do we need to focus on?

Mr. Thai Minh Sy:In addition to solutions towards the above goals, the Council of the Pioneers at all levels needs to conduct research, surveys and comprehensive assessments to understand the Pioneer class in the new situation, build appropriate standards and models for children in the coming time; from there, propose programs and ways to implement the Pioneer work appropriately.

For the Team work to be effective, we also identify that the Team cadres need to listen to and always respect the views and opinions of the children; care to share, encourage and motivate them in life; coordinate with parents to support and orient the children when they fall into difficult circumstances or show signs of falling or slowing down. Next, it is necessary to pay attention to resolving and unifying the implementation of policies and regimes for the team of teachers and Team leaders; there needs to be closer coordination between the Education sector and the Youth Union - Team organization in directing and organizing activities.

PV:In just a short time, children across the country will enter summer vacation and this will probably be a special summer after more than 2 years of facing the Covid-19 epidemic. So, to help children have a joyful and rewarding summer, how do the Youth Union and Young Pioneers at all levels plan to direct and organize Young Pioneer activities in residential areas and summer activities? Could you share the key plan launched by the Provincial Young Pioneers Council this summer?

Mr. Thai Minh Sy:Currently, it can be said that the epidemic situation is gradually being controlled, the spirit of adapting to the Covid-19 epidemic is being thoroughly grasped by all levels and sectors, and implemented by the people. However, currently, the rate of children who have been vaccinated in the province is still low, so depending on the development of the Covid-19 epidemic and the reality of epidemic prevention and control work, the Provincial Council of Young Pioneers will have directions and instructions for Young Pioneers at all levels to carry out the work of the Young Pioneers and the children's movement to ensure safety, health and usefulness.

If the epidemic situation is well controlled, the Provincial Council of Young Pioneers will continue to direct all levels of Young Pioneers to effectively implement the proposed programs and plans to better meet the needs and aspirations of children in studying, playing, and training after more than 2 years of facing great risks from the Covid-19 epidemic.

The Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Young Pioneer Council have issued a Plan on organizing summer activities for children in the area. In particular, they will focus on directing all levels of the Youth Union and Young Pioneers to organize activities to educate on ethics, lifestyle, traditions, history; entertainment, recreation, arts, physical education, and sports; focusing on educating social practice skills for children through programs: Summer Skill Camp, Young Pioneers' Rituals Competition, life skills training classes, survival skills, organizing competitions, online forums, and Summer Library. At the same time, connecting youth and student volunteer teams in the locality to support children in reviewing lessons, studying, and practicing their skills.

To strengthen the work of preventing and fighting drowning for children in the summer, the Provincial Council of Young Pioneers has directed and guided the Young Pioneers to strengthen the organization of propaganda and education activities on knowledge and skills of safety in preventing and fighting drowning and injuries through making maximum use of infographics and clips of young propaganda teams to propagate visually and vividly to children on social networks and local propaganda information pages.

In addition, focus on building local youth volunteer teams in residential areas to inspect, review, and place warning signs in areas with high risk of drowning for children; strengthen and develop a core team of staff in teaching safe swimming, preventing drowning, and organizing free swimming classes for children.
