American magazine voted Anh Vien in the top 5 best female athletes in Asia
The golden girl of Vietnamese swimming, Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, has been voted into the top 5 best female athletes in Asia by the prestigious American magazine Swimswam. This is a worthy reward for Anh Vien's tireless efforts.
Swimswam is the leading swimming magazine in the US and the world. Every year, this prestigious magazine selects the best swimmers of the year and honors them in awards for world athletes and athletes from different continents. The fact that Anh Vien was unexpectedly on the list of 5 Asian swimmers honored at the Swammy Award 2015 is considered a worthy reward for her tireless efforts throughout the year.

In 2015, the Swammy Award for Asian female athletes included 5 faces. The leader was world champion Kanako Watanabe (she was also voted the best Asian female athlete of 2015 by Swimswam magazine). The second place was also an athlete from Japan, Natsumi Hoshi, gold medalist at the 2015 World Championship. The third place belonged to the famous 17-year-old Chinese swimmer Zang Yufei, who broke the world junior record and won a bronze medal at the World Championship. The fourth place on the list was Chinese athlete Fu Yuanhui. The Vietnamese athlete born in 1996, Nguyen Thi Anh Vien, ranked 5th on the list of honorees.
Swimswam magazine gave Anh Vien the following comments: “At the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games - Thanh Nien) held in Singapore in June 2015, Nguyen Thi Anh Vien competed excellently and won 8 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal and led the list of Southeast Asian female athletes attending this event. Nguyen made a resounding achievement and with 8 gold medals alone, she helped Vietnamese swimming rank second in the medal tally at the Southeast Asian Games. Overall, her achievements at the Games were only behind that of Singaporean male athlete Joseph Schooling. At the world championship held in Russia in August, Nguyen reached the semi-finals of the 200m medley event.”
Currently, Anh Vien is leading the vote for the “Best Female Athlete” award of the 2015 Victory Cup. She is also the only Vietnamese swimmer to date to achieve 3 standards to participate in the 2016 Brazil Olympics and the goal that coach Dang Anh Tuan and his team set is to try to win an Olympic medal. She is still continuing her training in the US with the second important stage of the process towards the Olympics.
