Playboy magazine for sale for half a billion dollars

The popular Playboy magazine has been put up for sale. The proposal includes selling the publisher, website, licensing contracts and some assets.

According to CNN, the buyer of Playboy will have to pay about $500 million. In fact, the legendary magazine is going through a dark period. As the company said, the easy access to pornography on the Internet has affected the magazine's revenue. The management is forced to look for new ideas.

Last October, for example, Playboy announced it would no longer publish fully nude photos on its covers. The December issue last featured a nude photo shoot with model Pamela Anderson. But things don’t seem to have improved.

The Wall Street Journal, citing its own sources, said potential buyers for Playboy could be companies that already hold licenses to use the Playboy brand in other areas. For example, Playboy's revenue here last year was $55 million.
