In the cold days near the end of the year, the border commune of Thanh Thuy in Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province is warmer and more cheerful with the presence of "Charity booths". Emotionally sharing about this event, Mr. Ha Hong Thai - Chairman of Thanh Thuy Commune People's Committee said: Although there have been many efforts to develop the economy, there are still 40 poor households in the commune, accounting for 2.5%. "Compared to 2022, we have reduced the number of poor households by 18, the remaining households are mostly in vulnerable situations such as old age, loneliness, illness, so it is very difficult". Implementing social security policies, the commune also regularly organizes donations to support and encourage difficult circumstances, especially during Tet and Spring. However, according to the commune chairman, the local efforts are not enough, and the generosity of businesses over the years has always been a great source of encouragement and support for difficult circumstances in the area.
Receiving the gift personally presented by the President, Mr. Nguyen Van Quyet in Thuy Chung village, Thanh Thuy commune was moved to tears. He is 78 years old this year, his family is in difficult circumstances, currently the two of them live together in a small house, every day burning incense to worship martyrs. On this occasion, the President's delegation presented gifts worth more than 20.2 billion VND, including: 60,000 energy-saving stoves worth 19.2 billion VND; support for the construction of a semi-boarding kitchen for Thong Thu Kindergarten, Que Phong district worth 300 million VND, 1 Red Cross house worth 50 million VND for poor families, hundreds of gifts for relatives of policy families, workers and disadvantaged people in Nghe An.
Previously, the delegation offered incense and flowers to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at Chung Son Temple, offered incense to commemorate General Secretary Le Hong Phong, and visited and wished a Happy New Year to officers and soldiers of Thanh Thuy Border Guard Station.
