Training on marine environmental protection

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of October 14th, the Management Board of the Coastal Fisheries Resource Project for Sustainable Development of Nghe An province, in coordination with the Women's Association of Quynh Phuong ward, Hoang Mai town, organized a training session on environmental sanitation in the coastal area.

Overview of the training session

Over 70 participants attended the training course, including members from fishing groups in Quynh Phuong ward, the onshore core mobilization committee, heads of women's associations in various blocks of Quynh Phuong ward, and members of the project management board. The training covered important topics such as the current state of environmental pollution, especially in the marine environment, the impact of environmental pollution on marine fisheries resources, and the effects of destructive fishing methods such as the use of explosives, electric shock, and mines.

In fact, in recent times, environmental pollution has seriously affected the reproduction and development of marine life, causing marine resources to gradually deplete. Quynh Phuong, in particular, has the greatest potential for marine economic development in Hoang Mai town, with over 600 vessels and more than 3,600 direct laborers working at sea. In addition, the processing industry is developing strongly, and marine tourism is initially effectively exploiting 2.2 km of coastline for swimming, dining, and entertainment, attracting thousands of visitors from within and outside the province each year. If awareness among the local community regarding the preservation of the coastal environment is not raised in a timely manner, the consequences will be severe. This training program is conducted annually under the sponsorship of the Project on Protecting Coastal Resources for Sustainable Development in Nghe An province, targeting coastal localities.
