To date, Vietnam has participated in 17 free trade agreements (FTAs), of which 15 are in effect and 2 are under negotiation. In particular, new-generation FTAs that have come into effect in recent years such as CPTPP, EVFTA, UKVFTA, RCEP... are expected to be a "lever" for Vietnam's goods export activities in 2023 and the following years.

According to statistics, in the first quarter of 2023, the export turnover of goods of Nghe An province reached 521.6 million USD, down 5.5% over the same period last year. Meanwhile, exports nationwide recorded a decrease of 13% over the same period in the context of declining global demand and commodity prices tending to go down due to war, high inflation in major economies, tight monetary policy, etc. It is forecasted that businesses' export activities will continue to face difficulties in the second quarter of 2023.

Therefore, supporting businesses to understand and effectively apply the Rules of Origin of goods in FTAs in the current period is extremely necessary and contributes significantly to promoting import and export activities in the province.

The conference was attended by Mr. Tran Ngoc Binh - Head of Import-Export Management Department in Ho Chi Minh City, Import-Export Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade - a lecturer with extensive experience in the field of origin of goods, sharing and updating information on FTAs; at the same time, training on preferential C/O issuance to help businesses be proactive in the process of declaration and procedures for requesting C/O issuance.

At the training conference, practical problems reflected by businesses were answered and resolved by the Organizing Committee, thereby helping to ensure effective implementation and utilization of advantages from the FTAs that Vietnam participates in.
