National Training on Vietnam Coast Guard Law

On the morning of September 18, the Ministry of National Defense held a national online training conference on Law.Vietnam Coast Guardat 74 points nationwide, chaired by Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong - Deputy Minister of National Defense.

This training course aims to equip the leadership team of central and local departments, ministries, branches and relevant agencies and units with basic knowledge of the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard and detailed regulations and implementation instructions; as a basis for implementing the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard to ensure uniformity, unity and effectiveness nationwide.

The Law on Vietnam Coast Guard was passed by the 14th National Assembly on November 19, 2018, and took effect from July 1, 2019. The promulgation of the Law has political significance and special importance in law enforcement at sea, demonstrating the concentration of the will of the Party, the State, and the aspirations of the People, and is a strong declaration of determination to protect national and ethnic interests, and to protect peaceful measures in accordance with international law.

According to Lieutenant General Nguyen Tan Cuong, the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard has created an important legal framework to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the State's management and operation by law in the fields of national defense, security, management and protection of the Fatherland's seas and islands, and law enforcement activities, protection of national security, and order and safety at sea by specialized forces.

At the same time, it contributes to creating high consensus and strong changes in social awareness of all levels, sectors, agencies, units, functional forces and organizations and individuals about the position, functions, tasks and powers of the Vietnam Coast Guard; which is an important basis for building a "Revolutionary, disciplined, elite and modern" Vietnam Coast Guard force to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation.

At the training session, delegates were introduced to the policies, guidelines and viewpoints of the Party and State on management and protection by the Institute of National Defense Strategy and the Vietnam Coast Guard Command.sea ​​and islands of the Fatherland; One of the contents emphasized at the training conference is the Law on Vietnam Coast Guard, which defines the Vietnam Coast Guard as a functional force of the State, acting as the core of law enforcement at sea. It demonstrates that Vietnam is a responsible member of the international community, respecting and complying with international law, especially international treaties to which Vietnam is a member, determined to build a peaceful, stable, cooperative and developing sea.
