Focus on suppressing rash fever outbreak in Pieng Coc (Mai Son, Tuong Duong)
(Baonghean.vn) - From October 8th until now, in Pieng Coc village, Mai Son commune, Tuong Duong district, there has been an outbreak of measles-like rash fever.
According to Mr. Tran Van Cong - Deputy Director of Tuong Duong Medical Center, the son of Pho Ban Pieng Coc, Va Ba Nu (18 months old) had a history of rickets and malnutrition, so he passed away when he had a high fever.
From October 10 to 12, the District Medical Center and General Hospital sent 12 medical staff (including 5 doctors) to Mai Son to set up a field hospital at Pieng Coc Primary School to fight the epidemic. Up to now, in Pieng Coc village, there are 48 children aged 1 to 14 suffering from measles-like rash fever. Of these, 31 children have basically stabilized after treatment and have been sent home for further monitoring; the remaining 17 children are currently being treated by doctors.
Also according to Mr. Tran Van Cong, after receiving information about the epidemic in Pieng Coc, Tuong Duong Medical Center reported the situation to the Department of Health and the Provincial Center for Disease Control. The Provincial Center for Disease Control organized a working group to Mai Son to participate in disease prevention and took samples for monitoring and testing to determine the cause of the disease.
On October 13, leaders of the Department of Health also went to Tuong Duong to direct the prevention of rash fever in Mai Son commune. According to Mr. Hoang Van Hao - Deputy Director of the Department of Health, the Department of Health delegation had a quick working session with the leaders of Tuong Duong district, the Medical Center and the district general hospital. The Medical Center, the district hospital and the working group in Pieng Coc were directed to regularly monitor, not to let the epidemic continue to break out, spread to other areas and promptly report daily developments; assigned the hospital to urgently transfer 2 oxygen generators to Pieng Coc; the Department of Health will prepare a reserve working group (including doctors and nurses from the Children's Hospital) ready to go to Mai Son if the epidemic increases; in addition, focus on propaganda work to reassure people...
