The Necessary Transition to 4G

It can be said that the development of mobile technology from 2G to 4G is an impressive journey, each generation of technology brings optimal improvements to promote communication methods and bring digital life experiences to users.

When 2G was introduced in the early 1990s it revolutionized communication by moving from analogue to digital technology. This not only improved call quality but also increased security and the ability to send text and multimedia messages.

Notably, 3G, which arrived at the turn of the 21st century, also brought significantly faster data speeds, opening up the possibility of high-speed internet access, streaming video, and video calling. This changed the nature of mobile phones, turning them into multi-purpose devices that serve more than just communication.

In particular, when 4G technology was launched in the late 2000s and brought extremely low speed and latency, allowing data transmission of up to 1gbps, it significantly improved the quality of mobile internet services, supporting smooth HD video streaming and video calling. At the same time, 4G also significantly improved the experience of using online applications and services such as social networks and e-commerce.

Previously, Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai in Thanh My commune, Thanh Chuong district used a Nokia 105 phone. Since knowing that the 2G network was about to stop broadcasting, she switched to using a phone with 4G signal. Ms. Mai shared: "At first, I was hesitant to change my phone, but when I changed to a smartphone, with the guidance of my children and grandchildren, I could read news on online newspapers, call my children and grandchildren far away with pictures, and saw many conveniences."

Viettel accompanies people in converting to 4G

As the leading telecommunications enterprise in the province, Viettel Nghe An has been actively promoting the communication of the policy and roadmap for shutting down 2G waves to customers through banners, posters, leaflets, text messages, and radio broadcasts in villages and hamlets. At the same time, the unit also implemented activities to support customers in the process of "upgrading" to 4G phones through many attractive incentive programs.

Turning off 2G is considered a revolution to promote e-Government, digital economy, digital society... quickly and is also an important driving force for Vietnam to develop faster and stronger. This is also an inevitable trend in the development of mobile technology. The 2G network is too outdated and cannot meet the increasing needs of users for data transmission speed and Internet access. Turning off 2G will also help network operators focus resources on developing newer 4G and 5G network technologies.

It can be affirmed that the propaganda of turning off 2G waves and the policy of supporting people to switch to using 4G phones of Viettel as well as other network operators in Nghe An province is of great significance and has a profound impact on society. This is an opportunity to help people access and use new technology, improve the quality of life, and promote the economic and social development of the province./.
