The Navy has just organized a sailing ship 286/Le Quy Don led by Colonel Phan Van Van, Deputy Director of the Naval Academy, to conduct practical sea training for final year students of the Naval Academy, combined with visits and exchanges with the Navies of three countries: China, the Philippines, and Brunei.

Sending sailing ship 286/Le Quy Don for practical training and combined visits and exchanges aims to implement the guiding viewpoints of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense on international integration and defense diplomacy.

At the same time, strengthen the friendly relationship, cooperation, mutual understanding and trust between the Vietnamese army and navy and the armies and navies of China, the Philippines and Brunei, for peace, stability, cooperation and development of the region, and respond to the visits to Vietnam by naval ships of the three countries in recent years.

It is known that the Le Quy Don sailing ship is the first modern sailing ship of the Vietnam Navy, with the mission of providing practical training at sea for Naval Academy students, carrying out military diplomacy and other tasks.

Sailing ship 286/Le Quy Don is the most modern sailing ship in the world and the region; equipped with modern, multi-functional equipment, has a wide range of operations, and is capable of long-term missions at sea.

The ship has an overall length of 67m, a width of 10m, a maximum side height of 5.75m, a full load displacement of 857 tons; has 3 large masts with a height of over 40m, and a sail area of ​​1,400m2.
