On the afternoon of August 7, the rescue force of Nghe An Border Guard received information that the fishing boat with registration number NA-93044 TS of Mr. Truong Van Thuc, residing in Quyet Tam hamlet, Quynh Lap commune, Hoang Mai town, was on its way to shore to avoid the storm when the engine suddenly died. On board, in addition to Mr. Thuc, there were 12 other crew members. Currently, the boat is drifting freely at sea at the coordinates 18050'N and 105050'E, 12 nautical miles from Ngu island.
Upon receiving the news, Colonel Hoang Ngoc Nam, Deputy Commander of Nghe An Border Guard, immediately arrived at Squadron 2 - Cua Hoi to command the rescue work. Nghe An Border Guard dispatched two high-speed boats with the numbers BP 061101 and BP061102 and soldiers to rescue. However, on the way, the waves were too big and the wind was too strong, the high-speed boat could not continue. At this time, Colonel Hoang Ngoc Nam reported the incident to the Navy Command and the Border Guard Command, requesting that the high-speed boat of Squadron 2 return.
As soon as he received information about the fishermen's boat in distress, Colonel Hoang Ngoc Nam was present at Cua Hoi to command the rescue work.
