(Baonghean.vn) -While heading ashore to avoid Typhoon No. 6, a fishing boat carrying 12 fishermen from Quynh Luu district suffered engine failure and drifted freely at sea. Currently, rescue forces from the Nghe An and Ha Tinh Border Guard are trying to reach the vessel to rescue the fishermen.

Over 4,000 boats and ships have come ashore for safe shelter.

On the afternoon of August 7th, the search and rescue forces of the Nghe An Border Guard received information that fishing vessel NA-93044 TS, owned by Mr. Truong Van Thuc, residing in Quyet Tam hamlet, Quynh Lap commune, Hoang Mai town, had suddenly suffered engine failure while heading towards shore to avoid the storm. Besides Mr. Thuc, there were 12 other crew members on board. The vessel is currently drifting freely at sea at coordinates 18050'N and 105050'E, 12 nautical miles from Ngu Island.

Upon receiving the report, Colonel Hoang Ngoc Nam, Deputy Commander of the Nghe An Border Guard, immediately arrived at Squadron 2 – Cua Hoi to command the rescue operation. The Nghe An Border Guard dispatched two high-speed boats, numbered BP 061101 and BP 061102, along with soldiers to the rescue. However, en route, the waves and wind were too strong, preventing the high-speed boats from continuing. At this point, Colonel Hoang Ngoc Nam reported the incident to the Naval Command and the Border Guard Command, requesting permission for the high-speed boats of Squadron 2 to return.
